Our internship program is a key pathway for discovering future leaders in the swine industry. Pipestone offers internships across various departments, including veterinary, production, and office positions. Internship Opportunities
Undergraduate Internships
The Pipestone Internship Program offers an 8-10 week paid experience for undergraduates, featuring hands-on learning in accounting, business, research, IT, nutrition, marketing, veterinary services, and swine production.
Production interns gain experience in farrowing, gestation, piglet care, herd health, and nutrition, with opportunities in states like Illinois, Iowa, and Minnesota.
There is the possibility to work in one or more of the following states: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

Veterinary Internships
Pipestone Veterinary Services offers a paid 12-week summer internship for veterinary students, focused on swine health, production, and research. Interns lead research projects, complete an AASV project, and have opportunities to submit findings to competitions.
Open to first- and second-year vet students, the program includes housing, a stipend, and expense reimbursements through Iowa State University’s SVIP. Located in Independence, Iowa.

Veterinary Externships
Pipestone Veterinary Services offers a 1-2 week externship for 4th-year veterinary students, focusing on swine health, production, and research. This program is available in the Spring, Fall, or Winter and provides hands-on learning with experienced veterinarians and team members at clinic locations in Pipestone, MN; Independence, IA; DeKalb, IL; Rensselaer, IN; and Orange City, IA. Housing is provided; however, stipends, transportation, and meals are not included.
- Swine Expertise: Deepen your knowledge of swine health, production systems, and research while gaining practical, technical experience.
- Professional Skills: Develop communication and leadership abilities by working directly with veterinarians and family farmers in real-world settings.
- Commercial Production Experience: Learn about swine operations, including farm management and production processes.
- Comprehensive Learning: Broaden your expertise with exposure to areas like nutrition, farm records, finance, and ventilation systems.
