Our internship program is one of the best ways to help us find individuals who are ready to pursue a career in the swine industry. 8-10 week internship opportunities exist in many forms throughout PIPESTONE.

Production
- Our Production internship opportunities are designed to expose interns to all facets of swine production.
- Sow Farm interns will gain hands-on experience in farrowing, gestation, piglet care, and gilt development.
- Wean-to-Finish interns will gain hands-on experience in head health and individual treatment, production marketing, ventilation, nutrition, records and accounting, and research.
Our PIPESTONE Internship Program offers:

Public Outreach is also an essential component of our internship experience. Interns are involved with public outreach, assisting in PIPESTONE Discovery Barn events at numerous county fairs. The barns are filled with farrowing sows, weaned piglets, hatching chicks, calving cows, and many other interactive, educational displays. The Discovery Barn experience allows you to interact with consumers about their food supply and is a positive way to represent agriculture in an accessible setting.

Location
PIPESTONE has facilities in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. There is the possibility of working in one or more of these states. All PIPESTONE employees adhere to a strict biosecurity program and interns will be trained and expected to adhere to all protocols.
Compensation
The PIPESTONE internship is a paid experience. We encourage students to use the internship as college credit and will work with you and your college professor on the necessary requirements.

Pipestone Veterinary Services offers a paid, 12-week summer internship for veterinary students interested in swine health, production, and research.Â
Grow your knowledge of swine health, production, and research while working with veterinarians and team members at Pipestone Veterinary Services. An AASV project is required. Over the course of the summer, the intern will lead 1-2 research project(s) with an opportunity to submit research or a case study to competitions.
- Develop and broaden your swine veterinary knowledge and technical skills.
- Enjoy a strong mentorship program with veterinarians and numerous networking opportunities within the swine community.
- Enhance your communication and leadership skills by working with veterinarians and family farmers.
- Gain experience in commercial swine production.
- Assist, lead, and execute research projects on interesting topics.
- Learning opportunities in nutrition, records, finance, and ventilation.

Pipestone Veterinary Services offers a 1-2 week swine-focused externship for 4th-year veterinary students in the Spring, Fall, or Winter.
Students will be given opportunities to grow in areas of swine health, production, and research while working with the veterinarians and team members of Pipestone Veterinary Services.

- Enhance communication and leadership skills by working with veterinarians and family farmers.

- Open to 4th-year veterinary students who are swine-focused.
- Housing is provided.
- Stipend, transportation, and meals are not provided.
